Bottling your Wine
Bottling Day! This is the best time for a wine maker. Prepare the bottles of your choice by cleaning and sanitizing them. I use the sani cycle on my dishwasher with the top rack removed to sanitize my bottles.
Bottling Procedure
- Rack the wine to your bottling bucket and add Wine Stabilizer (Potassium Sorbate) per the directions on the package. I usually use 3 teaspoons and add it in the bucket as I fill it.
- Allow the wine to rest for about an hour while you take a nap
- I like to add some sweetener to a lot of fruit wines. My favorite sweetener is Light Karo Syurp. It makes the wine very smooth and nice. I add 1 to 2 cups for 5 gallons. Add the syurp to a container with 2 cups of water and heat it up so the syurp will dissolve then add it to the wine and stir well. Allow the wine to rest about an hour while you take another nap
- Fill and cork and let the bottles stay upright for a couple of days so the corks will expand then you can store them on there sides. I watch them close the first day to see if I have any leakers
